Clear about cost.
Clear about what's funded.
We believe in transparency, so you can make informed decisions about your care. This page explains our fees, potential rebates and the funding pathways that may apply to you.
Comprehensive Tinnitus Assessment
This is a comprehensive tinnitus assessment, not simply a hearing test.
More than a hearing test
Tinnitus is complex, and meaningful assessment takes time.
Your 90-minute appointment includes a detailed clinical evaluation of your hearing, tinnitus and the way it is affecting your everyday life. We look beyond the sound itself to understand the factors that may be contributing to, exacerbating or maintaining your tinnitus.
Laura holds a Master of Audiology and is currently completing a Doctor of Audiology.
Specialist tinnitus training includes:
Your care is guided by the best available evidence and tailored to your individual presentation. Treatment is recommended because it is clinically appropriate — not simply because you have tinnitus.
Medicare rebates
With an eligible written referral from your GP or specialist, Medicare may rebate some of the diagnostic audiology tests performed during your appointment.
These rebates apply to eligible diagnostic tests — not to the full 90-minute specialist tinnitus consultation. The total rebate varies according to which tests are clinically indicated and carried out.
Full Diagnostic Hearing Test
Air conduction, bone conduction, speech discrimination and other cochlear tests.
Middle Ear Function Test & Reflexes
Tympanometry and acoustic reflex assessment.
Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE)*
Assessment of outer hair cell function.
* Otoacoustic emissions are only Medicare-rebatable when the referral includes an eligible clinical indication — for example, risk of noise-induced hearing loss, risk of ototoxicity from medication or treatment, suspected auditory neuropathy, or risk of permanent hearing impairment in an infant or child.
Different funding pathways apply to different services.
Hearing care, tinnitus care and rehabilitation are not always funded in the same way. We will help you understand what applies before you proceed.
Hearing Services Program (HSP)
Adelaide Tinnitus and Hearing Care is a contracted Hearing Services Program provider.
Eligible clients may access HSP-funded hearing assessments, rehabilitation, hearing devices, follow-up and maintenance services through the clinic.
You can still have your eligible HSP hearing care and your private specialist tinnitus care managed in the same clinic.
Already with another HSP provider? Contact us →DVA Gold & White Card holders
We provide specialist tinnitus and hearing services for eligible veterans.
If you hold a Gold Card, or a White Card with tinnitus and/or hearing loss as an accepted condition, different funding pathways may apply depending on the service you require.
If you are attending your initial DVA assessment, a valid referral and TRN pathway is required so eligible services can be billed correctly and you are not unnecessarily charged privately.
If tinnitus is already an accepted condition on your White Card, specialist tinnitus treatment may require referral documentation and DVA prior approval before treatment begins.
I'm a DVA client — what do I need? →Private Health Insurance
Some private health funds provide rebates for eligible audiology services.
Your rebate will depend on your insurer, level of cover and the services provided.
We can provide the appropriate receipt for you to submit to your health fund where applicable.
Other funding pathways
We may also be able to provide services through other funding schemes where eligible.
- ReturnToWorkSA / work injury claims
- Self-managed NDIS
- ADF / Bupa pathways
- Other approved case-managed funding
Is the private tinnitus assessment an HSP “gap”?
No. Specialist tinnitus assessment and tinnitus treatment are outside the HSP voucher service, so the private tinnitus assessment is not simply a top-up or gap payment on an HSP-funded assessment.
HSP-funded hearing services and private tinnitus services are treated separately. If you are eligible for HSP, we will explain which parts of your care can be provided through the program and which services are private before you proceed.
Payment & appointments
Private consultation fees are payable on the day of your appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible. Where an eligible Medicare or private health rebate applies, we will provide the documentation needed for your claim.
